🍁Level 2 🍁 8.5 Mile walk ⛵Carsington Water⛵ Carsington and Hopton Village⛵

17th November 2018 @ 10:15 am - 4:00 pm

This scenic 8.5 mile walk takes us through fields and woodland, alongside the impressive Carsington Reservoir, where half a million trees and shrubs in woodland, copses and hedgerows have been planted. The result has been not only to enhance a beautiful landscape, but to create many new habitats for wildlife. We visit the attractive conservation Villages of Carsington and Hopton. They are inseparably linked and lie in a wooded valley with Carsington Pasture rising steeply to one thousand feet to the west, behind a row of pretty little cottages that line the roadside.

The terrain is relatively easy with good even footpaths. It’s a Level 2 walk which is suitable for anyone used to walking distances between 5 – 10 miles with hilly terrain.
We’ll have regular catching up points as always, and have a couple of breaks along the way.

There are refreshments and toilets at the visitor Centre where we’ll have a short break. A lunch break somewhere along the way which will be investigated soon.. And a more lengthy break near the end of the walk at the Miner’s Arms pub in Carsington Village..

Due to the change in season, good walking boots and waterproofs are essential. The ground may be muddy and wet causing slippery paths. There’s nothing worse than being cold and wet on a long walk..

Don’t forget your packed lunch and water to stay hydrated. But there are opportunities to pick something up at the Visitor Centre.

Dogs are always welcome..🐾🐾🐾 😊
